Some answers to common problems with Garage Doors

Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions I get from customers, if you have any other questions please fill in the short form at the bottom of this page

 

this could be for a number of reasons e.g:
  • Does the key turn in the lock to unlock the handle?
  • If not you will have a problem with the lock or handle
  • Does the handle turn but door doesn’t unlock?
  • If this is the case usually this is a problem with a broken lock cable
We would much prefer to advise you on a perplacement option for a Roller Garage Door as we have found over the years the problems associated are much better fixed with a new soloution. Please contact us and we can advise you.

The most likely reason is a fault with the sensors. Give me a call and I’ll come and sort it out.

Take a look at the handle outside for a name of the manufacturer or look on the rear of the door for the identification label. This is located in different places depending on the make of door. The first place to start is usually at eye level.

New timber doors are supplied ready-treated against insect and fungal attack. To maintain their beautiful natural appearance timber doors need to be treated with wood preservative.

You could have broken springs or loss of tension which will need adjusting.
The rollers could have worn out

This problem usually means you are going to need new cone and cables.
